Tom Taylor and Darick Robertson Send Zombies Back to the Dinosaurs in Vertigo's Necretaceous

DC's revived Vertigo imprint has a new title lined up for 2026: Necretaceous, written by Tom Taylor (DCeased) with art by Darick Robertson (The Boys). The pairing reunites two creators with a track record for taking familiar genre premises and pushing them somewhere gleefully unhinged, and this one leans all the way in — a team of scientists attempting to time-travel away from a zombie outbreak instead overshoot by 66 million years, landing in the Cretaceous period alongside the dinosaurs.

Taylor has been framing the book as a mission statement for Vertigo's comeback as much as a standalone series, describing it as extinction and survival, loss and love, betrayal and friendship — "and... zombie dinosaurs." It's a fittingly odd, high-concept entry for an imprint built on exactly that kind of swing-for-the-fences horror, and it joins the wave of other new Vertigo announcements rolling out of NYCC prep this month.

No solicitation or release date yet, but a Taylor/Robertson team-up under the Vertigo banner is the kind of book that's likely to move at the shop level on creator names alone, especially with The Boys' TV profile still driving interest in Robertson's other work. Worth flagging early for pull lists once Diamond or Lunar solicitations catch up.
