Netflix Options Geiger and Five Other Comics for Adaptation

Netflix has quietly optioned six comics and graphic novels for possible film or TV adaptation, according to a report from The Comics Beat. The headliner is Geiger, Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's post-apocalyptic superhero series from Image/Ghost Machine, alongside Mike Mignola and Greg Hinkle's retro sci-fi one-shot Radio Spaceman from Dark Horse. Rounding out the slate: IDW's serial-killer-among-talking-animals horror book Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, Gerry Duggan and Phil Noto's Odyssey riff The Infinite Horizon, Terri Libenson's middle-grade graphic novel Invisible Emmie, and Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda's horror trilogy opener The Night Eaters: She Eats the Night.

No format has been announced for any of the six, and an option is a long way from a greenlight — Geiger, notably, was previously optioned by Paramount Television before that deal lapsed. Still, the spread is telling: Netflix is fishing well outside the usual superhero pool, betting on creator-driven horror and genre work with built-in visual hooks rather than chasing another cape franchise.

Options like this tend to be slow burns for the back-issue case rather than instant sellers, but they're worth getting ahead of. Geiger #1 and the Radio Spaceman one-shot are the two most affordable entry points here, and both are worth pulling into a "Netflix-bound" bin now — before a casting announcement or a greenlight sends customers hunting for copies you no longer have on the shelf.
