Marvel's DNX Sends the X-Men Into the Wreckage of Age of Revelation

Marvel's next X-Men event, DNX, launches this month from writer Jed MacKay and artist Federico Vicentini, picking up right after the fallout of "Age of Revelation." Editor Tom Brevoort has framed the deliberately compact rollout — tagline: "Evolution Is Contagious" — as a course correction after the line ran back-to-back crossovers earlier in the year, saying Marvel intentionally spaced this one out so it wouldn't get lost in event fatigue.

Plot details are being kept close, but the title alone (a play on the mutant shorthand of the letter X and DNA-level stakes) points to something more biological than the last few X-line crossovers, which leaned heavily on politics and territory. MacKay's recent Marvel work has favored tight, character-first crime and horror beats over sprawling cosmic scale, so a smaller creative footprint here could mean a leaner, more personal event than X-readers have gotten used to.

With the book landing in stores this month, it's a good moment for shops to check back issues of the "Age of Revelation" lead-in and make sure new-reader jumping-on copies of DNX #1 are covered — event #1s from the X-office have a track record of selling through their first print fast.
