Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl Go Monster Hunting in Dynamite's MonsterVision

Dynamite Entertainment is turning drive-in horror royalty into a monthly comic. MonsterVision, launching in December, stars real-life horror host Joe Bob Briggs and his longtime on-screen sidekick Darcy the Mail Girl as they hit the road hunting monsters, with writer David Avallone and artist Edu Menna promising a "deep-fried, monster-hunting adventure" stuffed with B-movie riffs and horror-nerd Easter eggs.

Avallone has talked up Joe Bob as an unlikely leading man for the genre, saying he "looks like he'd be perfectly comfortable starring in a western: he's square-jawed, handsome and tall, but he channels that into something subversive" - the joke being a drive-in movie critic playing it straight as a monster hunter. Darcy, for her part, sounds thrilled to make the jump from cable access to the page, calling the partnership with Dynamite "incredibly special."

The first issue ships with a stack of variant covers from Dave Acosta, Kewber Baal, and Robert Hack, alongside a Darcy photo cover, signed editions, and blind-bag exclusives - the kind of retailer-incentive rollout Dynamite has leaned on before for its horror-host and cult-adjacent licenses. For shops that do well with the Last Drive-In crowd, this is an easy one to order deep on.
