Jean Grey Gets Her Own Series in November, Written by Jed MacKay

Marvel is giving Jean Grey the spotlight again. A new five-issue Jean Grey series launches November 25, written by Jed MacKay with art by Rogê Antônio, picking up directly where the DNX crossover leaves off.

The series finds Jean back on Earth and wrestling with a Phoenix Force she can't fully rein in, settling into an unlikely home base in Alaska. MacKay has framed the book as a character study built on contrast with her old partner: "Jean builds bridges, because that's who she is," he's said, pointing to a philosophy that's the opposite of Cyclops's more fortress-minded approach to protecting mutantkind.

It's Jean's first real spotlight since she sacrificed herself during the Age of Revelation to stop the X-Virus, handing the Phoenix Force off to Carol Danvers in the process. With DNX already pulling the X-office into position ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, a solo Jean Grey book landing now suggests Marvel is lining up more pieces than they've confirmed for that movie.
