Black Widow Goes Black, White & Red as Natasha and Yelena Dig Into the Red Room's Legacy

Marvel is giving Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Belova their own spin on the publisher's black-white-red anthology format with Black Widow: Black, White & Red Room, a four-issue limited series landing December 16. Each issue bundles three shorter stories: one centered on Natasha, one on Yelena, and one digging into the wider Red Room program and the operatives it produced.

The creative roster leans on writers with history in the Marvel Universe's spy-thriller corner, including Stephanie Phillips, Devin Grayson, and Jeremy Whitley, with later issues bringing in Peach Momoko and Sam Humphries. Artists Giuseppe Camuncoli, J.G. Jones, and Bradley Clayton handle the first issue, which reportedly pairs a heist story with a Yelena-and-Daredevil team-up and a Red Room escape for Nadia Van Dyne. Grayson has described the stark black-white-red palette as "a strong, compelling stylistic note" that gives the format real weight.

The timing lines up with Black Widow's rising on-screen profile, but the series looks backward rather than forward, using the Red Room's history to fill in blanks around both Widows and the women who came out of that same program. Expect this to be a mid-December pull-list staple for readers who like their spy comics with a body count.
